So, as many of you know, I need to lose weight, I need to get fit and I intend to do so as of right now. I will update this on a weekly basis with any weight loss etc that I achieve and for any of you guys who want to also get fit this year maybe we could all post in here as a motivational blog? I will weigh myself this coming Monday morning and every Monday after that and post updates in here.
Yep, this is not a hobby related challenge but hopefully nobody will mind this being here (anyone objecting please say so!)
So let the new fitness regime begin and hopefully be a success...

Ok, as stated I'll join when I've used all the good Xmas food up! Pointless before as I refuse to waste food! But my starting lightness is 20 stone 12 lbs as of this morning!

Count me in guys. I was already targeting some weightloss this year. So in for a penny and in for lb eh. Will weigh myself in the morning if i can convince the scales to stop running around screaming in terror when i approach.

How are you guys going about this? Just diet or additional exercise too? Can I just say that the first step to losing large amounts of weight is a visit to the doctors to make sure it is ok to exercise and to get advice about which way to go will be the best. They should have dietry specialists and physiotherapists who can offer advice as well. The last thing you want is to injure yourself and get stuck in bed... or worse . I don't want to sound patronising... I just want to make sure that it is safe for you (20St 12 will need a very gradual and measured fitness programme). I always have a purge after Christmas... it is good for the soul and I really wish you well on your endeavours . The first couple of weeks will be the worst but once they are over with it will get easier as the exercise endorphins kick in (even if at first it is just a case of going for a brisk walk). Well weighed myself....i had to jump off the stairs with a duvet to finally supress the scales. Who in revenge laughed evily as they reported a weight of 15st 1lb.

So you looking at getting down to 13st 3lb, think you should go the whole hog and aim for 13st ............... I may join you guy`s, as i`m just somewhere around 15st. I`d like to get down to 13st if possible, just have to work out which type of "Diet" to go on............... Doom....

My main problem is almost no ability to exercise and a permanent gnawing.... My two main problems are almost no ability to exercise, a permanent gnawing hunger and an obsessive appetite for .... My three main problems are no exercise, permanent hunger, total chocoholic and a ..... Bugger it, I'll stay fat!

Well positive action step 1. Rejoined the gym today. Induction Monday with an instructor I know, he has no qualms about making you hurt.
