Intriguing, though it's still Apocalypse Lite to me....
Side note - Jervis has a deeper voice than I'd imagined. Odd.

The WD article we got last week said every army except Tyranids will have access to daemonology. We'll see to what extent that is true when we have the rulebook (and I assume assorted FAQs to bring old books in line with the new edition), but for the time being it seems like an all inclusive* Chaos party is going to go down. *Tyranids not includedMe, I'm rather happy with this psychic lore. I'll get to use my Daemons and my (totally not radical) Inquisitress more often. She's probably going to die a lot more to hilarious miscasts, too, if what I read about perils using a random table now is true. Well, she along with everyone standing around her, I'm sure. That is something to look forward to.

Ok... so why would loyal marine chapters summon deamons? or Orks? or Eldar? And how would Tau at all? They're messing with my fluff again

Well, obvious Tau, Necrons and the like that don't have psykers won't have access to psychic lores either. No different than what we have now with biomancy, etc. Why anyone else? How about freedom? No one forces you to summon Daemons. Orks shouldn't because the concept is strange to them and Eldar shouldn't because one would think they knew better by now. But technically, knowing the plentiful paths of the potential futures, a scenario where summoning Daemons into real space is thinkable. It's really no different than the standard Eldar plot of going to war on an unsuspecting Ork world and stir the pot so the Orks go on a Waaagh towards the nearest Imperial world, thereby weakening both forces and drawing their gaze away from the craftworld that's sneakily floating by in the meantime. Loyalist Marines? They are known to occasionally switch sides, and access to Daemon summoning helps reflect their final stage of betrayal. Not to mention how many people play Codex Space Marines as counts as for their Traitor Legion. The option for daemonology certainly comes in handy there. Imperial Guard is even easier because Traitor Guard counts as is even more established, and already reflected in the allies chart which lets them ally with pretty much anyone, including Chaos Marines and Daemons. There's also the more hilarious explanation that your Primaris Psyker isn't quite as well trained as he should be and oops, unwitting Nurgling infestation when he just wanted to scrye the future. Grey Knights is yet easier because Mat Ward already butchered their background and let's them play alongside Daemonhosts and wield daemon weapons, so screw Mat Ward. Of course radical Inquisitors are firmly established in the background and daemonology is a good addition to reflect that on the tabletop. Did I forget anyone? The point is, the freedom to allow more than traditional Chaos armies to take psyker powers like this is beneficial to those who want to use fringe forces that are not representative of the common forces associated with a codex, while at the same time doing nothing to destroy the background for anyone else. Or do you feel forced to take an option just because it is there?

Never says the man with 10k in DAs. Screw Matt Ward??? Finally roles are switched!!

As Geifer has stated it does allow for more freedom to make really cool armies based on theme. Which is GW's intent. Of course, the idea that A Justicar in a GK force summoning daemons just does not sit right.
There are lots of reasons why a Psyker could summon. Perhaps this lore is almost progressing the time line in the fluff slightly. We know the Imperium will never win, and this shows the grips Chaos and Daemons are having or could be having as they overcome loyalist Psyker minds with more uber power.
Of course, the meta tournament gamers will use it as a way to make the hardest new army out there possible with all kinds of craziness once the book lands in 2 weeks and they combine it with data slates and formations etc to make evilness on the tabletop!

Oh I don't know about the Knights. Summoning Daemons and then banishing them is one way to keep training costs down!

Are the new rules going to let you summon greater daemons? Or heralds? Similar in principle of course but a herald is not going to be anywhere near as overpowered as a rampaging bloodthirster...

Well, that WD sidebar has, to all intents and purposes, a full on Bloodthirster,so.....
And the irony of it being summoned by Ezekiel of the Dark Angels is too delicious for mere words.

FK You can summon half of Codex Chaos Daemons: plastickrak.blogspot.de/2014/05/40k-7th-edition-daemonology-leaked.htmlThough Greater Daemons come through possession, which not everyone may be willing to do. The one I heard most often is replacing your down to one wound psyker with a fresh, new Greater Daemon. But under normal circumstances, you may get more out of your psyker summoning Lesser Daemons each turn for a couple of turns instead, which is presumably easier to get as it's the primaris power.

Note that the primaris here has a Warp Charge cost of 3. Not sure what that means given the change of psychic phase though as it won't be related to mastery level for sure anymore I wonder of Warp Charge 1 = 7, 2 = 10 to cast, 3=15 to cast or something as you generate a pool of dice per turn (D6 plus the sum of all your psyker mastery levels i heard)
That makes casting the primaris power here quite tricky to do, as Daemonology rumour is that any double on casting is a perils of the warp...(unlike all other powers that its just a double 6) The more dice you throw the more chance of it going wrong which could be a good balance here.
I cannot imagine it easy to summon a greater daemon.

Jervis has done another video talking about the new missions and objectives. I like the sound of those! Too many times holding an objective with a few infantry at the end of the game or someone zooming onto one to capture/contest in the last turn is just stupid.
