Damn, painting a unit of 21 in one go is a lot of work. They are slowly getting painted. Will try to get some WIP pics on here from time to time.

I found that with the Saurus regiment. Wouldn't do it any other way now though as once you get into the groove you can get a lot done in one go.

I'm sure they will get painted faster this way than in batches of 3, but it is one hell of a work. I have now done the first two layers on the chainmail, the first 3 layers on the edge decoration of the armour (there's decoration work on the helmet, hammerhead, shoes, and belt), and currently adding the first layer on the armour itself (chest, helmet, hammerhead). Still a lot of work to do.

How do you get your gold covered so nicely The gold so far was achieved using following colours: - chaos black spray: undercoat - Balthazar Gold (new): basecoat - Shining Gold (old): drybrush - Seraphim Sepia (new): wash I may have thinned the balthazar gold with game colour thinner and have done it in two layers, but don't remember. May as well have been one layer of Balthazar gold. Agrax earthshade will definitely be added as a layer later on as well, as may some extra highlighting on it (don't know yet).

Looking good! Get 'em done Hammer shafts have got a scorched brown basecoat. Took me an hour. Slowly they will get finished. Looking at how much time I need for a single layer, I wouldn't expect them to be finished at the end of April. End of May will look more doable. The idea is to give everything its basecoat first so I have a vague idea of how they will look eventually. Next up, gloves!

I found with my big unit that a session each evening would get me colour, expect the first base coat of each colour. So for my Lizardmen the base layer was two evenings, the next was an evening and the highlight a fourth. Before you know it you'll be onto the details!

The leatherwork on the edge of the chainmail has been painted "steel legion drab" and their sleeves have been painted (first "liche purple", redone with "russ grey" and in the end I went for) "scab red". Purple didn't look right, grey looked too boring, red looked perfect.

I can't believe these guys are getting painted so slow. 21 Dwarfs in one go is just too much for me. I think I will paint following units in batches of 5.
