Over the last couple of nights i have been working on the UCM starter set from Dropzone Commander by Hawk Wargames. It's been a long time since i painted anything so small and detailed, the models are simply amazing even in the plastics. Barring the infantry and a coat of varnish, i have finished the entire UCM starter, let me know what you think Family portrait Condor Dropship with 3 Sabre Main Battle Tanks Condor Dropship with 3 Rapier Anti-air tanks Condor Dropship with 2 Bear APC's

Been a busy bee today. But i have so enjoyed the days hobbytime that i have had. Been working on a few highly detailed models and trying to raise my painting on them. Please excuse the pic, lighting in this room is p-poor. But here is a wip of my 'steel phalanx, Myrmidion Hacker' for the Infinity game. Trying to keep with the very Anime/Manga feel to the models and game.

cheers Irontooth. I am trying to keep the Manga/anime feel for the model. Basing (probably a day away) is proving a pain in the butt though. I have absolutely no idea what to do in that area.

So i have this weird thing. It's called a week off work. Part of my plan is to throw down some hobby time as and when i can. Yesterday saw me cleaning up and undercoating some deadzone terrain (i have 2 basic sets). I also received an order of some 'trihex' bases from antenocitis workshop. So had to clean them up too. Today, i managed to basecoat all the 'walls' for deadzone along with the bases. Ofcourse this gave me the perfect reason to finish up 1 of the bases and finally finish off the Myrmidon Hacker model from the above posts. And here she is all based up and posing in front of some of the Deadzone terrain. Thoughts anyone?

cheers guys. For the Aleph 'steel phalanx' box set from infinity. I have 5 more models to paint to the same standard as the one above. For the deadzone terrain..umm 40 wall floor tiles, 12 half tile floors, 15 barricades.8 hand rails and a massive assortment of crates, cylinders, connectors, buttresses and lights.
But i am getting there. Fitting the painting in between work, gym sessions and normal life.
Last year i managed only a couple of models. This year only 2 months in and i have blown that tally out of the water.

Fantastic work but are you planning on painting any continents etc on the planets or just leaving them like that?

The bases in the last 3 photos blend in quite well, the others - less so, personally I'd have probably gone for transparent hex's if I wanted them floating or cutting a slice off the bottom of the spheres and sitting them flat. You could try matching the other bases into the mat as you've done on the last three which would work well enough though it would rather limit where you could put them. I take it the yellow ones are stars? Very convincing paint on them if so, the planets are a bit featureless in comparison though.

At the moment i wont be attempting any land masses as i am happy with the gas giant type look of the planets.
The bases will tie in with the bases of my FSA fleets when they arrive.I want all the bases to have a nebula feel to them, but also fit in across many different tables. Hence i am trying not to match the very heavy yellow nebula of the gale force 9 mat.
Much of the current colour/idea came from the recent Aurora Borealis events over the skies of norfolk.
