I may spend most of that 5 months and 3 days banging my head on my desk. Tried to do some uniform research using both web knowledge and band of brothers. Now i (typically) am planning on using the 506th PIR themed around Bastogne. Research has shown that the 506th were withdrawn to the UK and requipped a month after d-day. Part of this refit meant the issue of the new M1943 uniform. It should be simple you say. Just paint them in the m1943 then. Maybe the odd bit of m1942 (classic sand colour) kit for those who wanted to mix it up. So more research was done....and then my brain melted. You see.. This is the classic and very clearly sandy coloured M1942 jump uniform that was in use prior to op market garden. Most obvious on this are the knee and elbow patches that were added. So we have a look for the m1943 uniform. Most people say 'It's green, as seen in Band of brothers'. But a check of BoB shows some of the guys were wearing a more brownish colour. Initially i dismissed this as being the overcoats and/or mixed in m1942 kit. So belief was...m1943 Green...obviously green. But further digging found this from a re-enactment site. Ah not green. So i appealed to my freinds on twitter, knowing there would be a few history buffs amongst them. One pops up with his m1943 uniform annnnnnd Not very green at all. Back to banging of head upon wooden surfaces.

LOL, the thing that got me about Khaki Drill was that it was standard issue 'til the mid 60's (..... er ..... about 50 years ago) and they made millions of them so finding out what colour (or color for your yanks) they were ought to be easy.
Well, anyway, I think Geifer got it right when he said
then again, I've only done one infantry section and am not necessarily planning on doing more.
PS It is of course possible that the colours have faded over time so that even though the uniforms worn by the re-enactors are authentic, they are also 50 years old or (much) more.

After a lot of dithering and debate. I finally jumped in and got the paint going today. Whislt praying for my airbrush compressor not to explode on me.. I got the base colours down on the entire force. The guys at the front are the same colour as those at the back, for some reason my phone decided to have a funny moment with them. But it's all progress. I plan on pick a few models to put items of M42 uniform on, to mix it up a bit and represent guys possibly trying to layer up, patch up damaged uniforms. After all it was darn cold in Bastogne.

Well that last few days hae seen some hobby work. First off i managed to get the basic layering done on the Infantry uniforms for my bolt action force A bit of a close look to show the work off. Pics still poor but 11pm on a camera phone...you get the idea.... Then today, a parcel arrived, signalling my imminent return to the Malifaux game with the Ressurectionist faction 'Kirai' crew. I just need to get the 'arsena' decks so i can get back playing...oh and paint them ofcourse. So things are moving along slowly

Looking good mate, would`t worry about the colour as Brassaxe said..... So i`d say it`s safe to get on with painting them.......Keep up with the good work and don`t forget the group shot pic when you`ve finished painting them.
Doom....

Lol Brassaxe thats because you said M10 as in wolverine tank destroyer and tried to link to a british Achilles that was effectively a similar tank in every way except the pain gun. But no the tank in the pic is an American M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer M18 hellcat US M10 wolverine tank destroyer British M10 achilles tank destroyer The biggest difference between the US and UK M10 is the gun as the US one had a 3inch gun that was effective against most german tanks of the Afrika Corps but not against the European theatre late tanks like the late war tigers and panthers. But the British deceided to upgun it with the much more effective British 17 pounder Antitank gun that could puch through anything in the field. As to the dreaded scale...If your on any of the Bolt Action pages you will know the word scale in bolt action is normally the signal flare for a flame war lol. But BA is designed for 1/56 scale although many people feel tanks should be bigger and more imposing at 1/48. The reality though.. Most allied tanks were smaller than people believed. Especially the likes of the m10, m18 that were designed to be low and quick. That concludes todays history lesson lol

A bit more obvious from the side view Judging from the fact that a Hellcat was 9'4" wide and comparing it to the dead guy at the front, it still looks very undersized. I'm asking mainly 'coz I quite fancy converting a Valentine into an Archer

You dont need to mate... This is warlords wip one As to the dead guy. Say he is an average of 6ft, arm stretched out may add another 1-2 ft. He fits between the tracks of the tank. So not that far off really.

That's not looking too shoddy, might see how it turns out - or up-turret a Cromwell to an A30 Challenger....
