Hi all!
Here's the project I'm working on these days. Actually, I've been working on it on/off for the last year or so, but not until very recently did I feel I had anything to show you (or anybody).
My starting point was a fascination with Nurgle and the possibilities for conversions, rot, guts and a general feeling of nasty. Also, my previous project had been Tyranids, so I felt I would do somthing that wasn't a horde army - Hence Nurgle CSM. I wanted to try and avoid the more traditional green colour scheme, so my paint scheme is pale bone and lots of rust - a bit like the cleaved but without the oil.My army will be constructed around Typhus as HQ so that Plague Marines can be troops - lots of rot, yes please. I know he probably ought to have a different colour scheme than the one I'm using, but I guess he'll just have to live with it. As will anybody getting to play games against my army.
Here are the first few minis I have actually finished off to showcase what I'm doing:
As you can see, they are a happy mixture of GW CSM, GW SM, Forgeworld Plague Marines, MaxMini backpacks and helmets and a little GS.
I'm not working on a specific plan, but work on several units/models at the same time as my fancy takes me. My present projects are:
More CSM - here the unit champ in the middle and two heavy weapons. I know Plague Marines can't have heavy bolters and such heavy weapons, but I like the parts, so I'll let that, instead of the rules, take precedence. Since I spend extremely more time building, converting, painting, and looking at my minis than I do actually gaming, I will not let rules and fluff stand in the way of a look I like.
Here's the first of the two Rhinos I've got so far. Lots of more conversion to do, and the picture has shown me that I need to work on the blobs of rot to make them more alike. I'm a little at a loss as to how to apply my paint scheme to the Rhino so far, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
This is my first Hellbrute of two - only assembled and (intentionally) damaged a little, but my plan is to swap his shooter for the autocannon from my other Hellbrute (the new one with all the nice options in the box) and then of course add pustules and other nastiness. I've cut away the tentacles underneath his left arm because I thought they stuck out too much. Something else will take their place.
Finally, there's my Daemon Prince which is my most ambitious project ever so far. I'm not done with the conversion of him yet as I feel his jump pack (which counts as wings) needs a little more bulking out, and I also have to decide whether he should have a tail or something else to cover his butt (which I'm sure will otherwise be mocked by friends, family and fellow gamers).
The future of my army also holds 3 bikers, a landraider, a unit of cultists, a champion and of course Typhus himself. I'll keep you posted, but be warned that I don't work fast, so progress will be like a Hellbrute - slow and ponderous with sudden fits of rage/creativity.
Cheers, Q
