Needing to wait until the release of the new HH book before this can properly be started but from a look around the web it seems the following has been confirmed since UK Games Day ...
Iron Hands- the head of the gorgon effects chosen groundinfantry units gain stubborn inside their own deployment zone war relics any infantry model in the force with a flamer may exchange this for a graviton gun , all vehicles gain the blessed autosimulacra special rule iron scions legio cybernetica battle automata maniples may be inclused as an elite choice . any infantry squad 10 strong or less eligable to take a rhino may instead take a land raider proteus or phobos as a dedicated transport armoured encirclement vehicles with the tank type placed in reserve gain the outflank special rule
limitations may only take a single fast attack choice with the exception of the forge lord , may only take a single consul as part of their HQ choices may not take allied legion detachments
I have stripped 6 of the OOP metal land speeders to include in the force but if the above is right I'll be needing to have a 2nd look at what to have for the fast attack slot. Lol ... Nothing is ever easy.
I've also got a lot of beaten up OOP Rhinos I'm wanting to make use of for the 30k project. I'll aim to have each Rhino also work as either a Predator, Vindicator or Whirlwind.
As 30k is not cheap I'll be building this up slowly but surely over time as a treat for completing other hobby projects.

I'll have access to the book soon to check out the rules and there's some bits in trade on the way which will help get me started out on the 30k Iron Hands. I've also located quite a few beakies knocking around which will be put to one side to do some Raven Guard soon as well. Just need to sort out the right arms/pads/packs.

Do we know what "could" be in the next book? I'm still waiting on some Ultramarines... That and the loyalist forces are being left behind slightly with Forgeworld's releases.

Got access to the books as my mate forked out for them. Need to have a good look at the IH rules.

Hmmm ... I might end up saving the metal Land Speeders for the Raven Guard. There's now almost a full 20 man squad of beakies collected together. So it's looking like I'll be doing a fairly decent chunk of RG alongside the IH's. Might have to change this to loyalist 30k rather than just IH's in the title.
Edit: Thread title amended.

Well, it looks like the Raven Guard are going to end up getting troops painted up before the Iron Hands.
I've now located enough metal bodies to do a full squad of 20 in Corvus Armour (MK VI). Looking at the arms used in the FW stuff I can easily use plastics, so it's just pads and backpacks to sort out. With a bit of luck I think I'll have them sorted out fairly soon.
The plan is to build up a loyalist force big enough for a series of Zone Mortalis games to go against my mates traitor force. So something like 500 points which is not too big a target for 2014. Think I'll end up doing a mixed squad in traitor colours to represent loyalists from the traitor legions eventually though this is just at the ideas stage at the moment.

Been looking at the FW bit's I've got together and there's a fair number of bubbles needing to be cleaned up/filled in with the IH's. Think I'm going to have another go at making up mk VI pads up and cracking on with the raven guard. Really after converting up some custom Raven Guard pads of my own, however my current GS-foo is lacking. May need to try sourcing them instead. Pic's will be happening soon!!!

Been looking at casting up some floor blocks either 6" or 1' square in plaster to detail up some scenery so me and a mate can do some zone mortalis games. A big concern for me was wear and tear on plaster meaning it'll need constant neatening up if any chips or knocks happen showing white plaster. I then realised I can control the colour of the plaster with cheap pigments. So maybe a dark brown or grey would work?
Lol ... Getting a bit ahead of ourselves as the 30k forces we're going to be using in the games haven't even been painted up yet!!!
But there's a definite goal on the horizon for us to aim for. Think this one will have a lot more planning and less throwing lots of directionless effort at an idea (which I seem to do a lot of) thanks to sharing the work load.

Looks like there will be a joint thread/blog of me and Phil's endeavours to get a game of 30k under way on the B&C board at some point soon.
When he comes over tonight the goodies I'll have my hands on will increase to:
- "IRON HANDS LEGION MKIII SQUAD" - "IRON HANDS MEDUSAN IMMORTALS" - "IRON HANDS LEGION MK III SHOULDER PADS" - "IRON HANDS ICONS" - "IRON HANDS RHINO DOORS"
Plus a bunch of mk 3 marines as well.
Hopefully I'll be able to trade for a few Raven Guard mk 6 pads at some point to be able to make use of the metal beakies.

Decided that the Immortals are fancy enough to become some form of leaders for the army. I'll then convert up Immortals from the mk3 IH's with the shields/pads/arms from the Immortals kit. They're crying out to become Iron Fathers. Though I've still got to have a good read of all the fluff before I actually end up messing the project up. Like doing a clan that wasn't at Istivann (spell?).
Been playing around with the rhinos doors kit and some old rhinos. I think I'll try making the sides a bit more chunky/taller so the side doors will fit with a bit of a trim. The front of the rhino doors kit won't fit on the front of the old rhino kit but I think using the domed front from the old kit with the hand icon from the icons kit will work instead. Hopefully doing this will give the rhino's a more cohesive look and will help cover up the well meant but a rather badly done conversions I've done to the rhino's in the past.
I've also been trying to work on getting all the bits I need together for the beakies. Not sure if I should use the old arms/bolters that used to come with the metal kits or use some newer bolters/arms as they look so much better? I've decided that the metal speeders will be better off in Raven Guard colours so they've been moved over to the RG rather than the IH's which didn't really suit the fluff anyway.

There's no harm in using 'recent' parts such as current arms because according to the fluff, the MK 7 suit which is the mainstay now was just coming online during the Heresy.
Makes sense that the IH would have the largest stocks of it, considering their cosy relationship with the AdMech.

Decided I'm going to go the opposite to my normal on mass approach with the 1st one. So you won't see me trying to churn out 100's of marines like I tried with the SW's and Smurf's. Not sure where this is heading but its quite a refreshing change. Hmmm ... Not sure it's going to continue, but worth while trying something new. Pic's will be up soon!!!

Need to work out how to paint up my IH's. Do I go: - fully metallic - black + metal - black/blue + metal - dark grey + metal
Been looking on the b&c boards for inspiration. What do you guys and gals think?
