My guard need updating with the new book. So how about we do a one for one swap. I'll take your beret wearing heads and swap you for the ad mech ones

Yep, that one looks cool. I definitely wouldn'T mind seeing a full squad like that. Painted, of course. If only GW could be bothered to supply greatcoat legs. I'd be all of this kit, instead of considering it a box of overpriced wannabe Scouts. ... a simple legswap and some groin armor did most of the work... Groin armor is overrated. ... was cutting of the camping kit on the backpack and replacing it with a fuel/air/whatever tank. See, something else a warm coat fixes. He won't be cold at night even though you stole his camping gear.

Stretch: thanks for the offer mate, I have to pass though as I have a few plans of my own. If you need a few later let me know though, we'll work something out. Geifer: cheers, guess gw would make a million if they did some greatcoat legs, perhaps they would consider it conversion parts, which is out of their market. Making new minis/boxes with greatcoat soildiers would be to much.... These are not even greatcoat legs, but DA like robes. During all this AdMech seaching I have only found a few companies making greatcoats, secretweapon, mad robot miniatures, maxmini. Surpricing really.

It's close enough to a greatcoat to make me dream about pretty Guardsmen, though. It has the right look, even if it's called something else.

Close enough for me too. Already slapped some paint on him, mostly metals, but also managed to work on the gun. No the best photos I know, still getting to know my new phone. A few more pics in my blog if you should be interested.

Don't know if it's just the photos but that antiqued metal looks perfect

Yeah I agree on the armour. What colours (and techniques) did you use?

Thanks guys, glad you like it. I've experimented quite a bit to get the right look on the bronze/brass parts, it's quite simple and I'll happily write down the "how to" a little later as I'm out of time right now, just wanted to add a pic more to the thread. Added some red to the mix. Far from done but it does give quite a good impression of the finished look.

Looking good. Don't forget to put him next to your other Mechanicus models for comparison. Scratch that, don't forget to take a picture of that and post it here.

Nice work on the metals... the tarnished look works very well with the red you are using. These will be stonking when finished

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated. I'll be sure to get n army shot, some time in the non to distant future Yeah I agree on the armour. What colours (and techniques) did you use? Allrighty then: 1. Vallejo Model color Bronze. 2. one or two washed with GW Agrax Earthshade 3. wash with a mix of Vallejo Model Air Dark Green, Dahab black and water. 4. very llight drybrush of nr.1 5. watered down GW Hawk Turquoise with a dap of dishwash applied in the recesses as verdigris. Simple as that! Got the red finished yesterday and started on the detailing. A few more pics in my blog, if you should be interested.

Finally found some painting time after a few crazy weeks with too much to do. Started adding details to the hypaspist - works rather well IMHO
