Well starting from scratch once again - always a little sad, but also nice with new beginnings. Also not to bad to be able to start of with a picture of - almost - an army, all painted up in a month!!!! Not to bad eh? If yo want to see some of the stages getting here scoot over to my blog The Forge at forgemechanicus.blogspot.dk/ and see some pics.

Looks good. But...(there is always a but) the basing is in danger of blending with the models. Is it a good pic compared to in the flesh? Or is it better in real life?

Thanks guys. I see what you mean ZOG, the grey on the bases is actually not as prominent IRL.

I'd be tempted to dull the bases down with a dark brown wash. But digital photos dont compare to seeing em in real life anyway.
How you finding painting 6mm?

I think I'll use a little less grey on the bases from now on. I really enjoy painting 6mm - much more than I had ever anticipated. I love the fact that with a few simple techniques you can paint up, 15-20 minis in no time and make themm look fine too.

Finally got into modelling mode again - this time it's, yet, another try to come up with a suitable model for my hypaspist. The hypaspist is, by the way, the rank and file trooper of the mechanicus - a super IG if you will (IG stats). What I think of hypaspists is: a mass produced above average soldier, still quite human but with a good deal of tech and bionics - easily more soldier than the tech-priests. Though, topclass and trimmed rank and file soldiers, I also see them as a bit feral, rather violent bunch - without much regret and a burning desire to serve the Machine God. I'd really be interested in your views and opinions. Pictures of all the bits can be seen in my blog if you should be interested.

I'd stick to one style of legs with each of the units rather than mixing them in individual units. From the pic's in The Forge there's enough variation in each type of leg to allow you to not mix them up. I'm also preferring the robotic arms over the normal arms. Overall I think mixing it all up really works well and I can wait to see them painted up.

Thanks mate. I think I need to clarify a bit. I was planning on using just one of these - not a mix, as you are absolutely right about the leg thing. I was kind of looking for a bit of help as I like several of these designs myself.

In that case I'd opt for number 3, the puppetwar heads just look evil/mean as you described them. Number 6 is a close 2nd. By the way nice bases.

Well but of cause....just as soon I had decided on one of the suggested hypaspists models, miniatures of the north announces these..... so now I'm in doubt again - should I wait for these? hmmm Well while I make up my mind, I decided to do one of the 15 mm Leviathans fro GameForge, I got a few weeks ago. Huge kit, with something as cool as real metal screws for the joints Have a look at this leg, and tell me it isn't going to be huge mini.
