Here is the second terrain-piece painted: The Storage Platform for my spaceport. Again a 'quick-and-dirty' paintjob. The new pot oft Nuln Oil I now use leads to a shinier finish than the one I used before. Not necessarily a bad thing... The Storage Platform provides much-needed extra room in the display cabinet. I yet have to figure out how to arrange the armies so it looks nice AND remains convenient to reach the models for games. I will now take a break from the Children and build & paint some undead for my Van Krallenfels' vampires and their obscure entourage...

Nice job. Did I hear undead? More undead is always better.

Finally I have something new to show. Some of them are good, some bad and some pretty ugly... Here are some miniatures that I just finished: Rudolph - an allrounder hero: Hilda, dwarven priestess (painted mostly by my daughter for a co-op fantasy game I developped): Godo, a little dog, owned by Keggi - Hildas brother: And here are the bad and ugly ones - all members of Van Krallenfels Sinister Entourage - my Fantasy Vampire Counts army. Let's start with the "new" Krell: King Leoric A ghoul gobbler (who has already gobbled down quite a few heroes...): A ghast (... what I like to call especially tall ghouls): And another ghoul gobbler: And another creature - an undead deer wielding dark magical powers? I still have quite a few more fantasy miniatures to paint before I will return to the Children. They are (more or less) patiently waiting for their time to rise again.

Nah, they're not ugly. Just misunderstood.

OK, here goes... We started to play Inquisitor with 28 mm Miniatures. This is my character: Fredek 'Fred' Grabauska - tertiary proletarian from the machine docks 4.1.. He is not a very good fighter but has an innate talent for all things mechanic and electric which he considers a gift of the Emperor. He firmly believes in the structures of the Imperium and is part of a group currently investigating arms-dealing in hive Tarsus. He has lot's of gear with him to tinker with machines, lights and controls during the game and is a wyrd with Machine Empathy. His weapons and combat skills are not very impressive though. Next up - as announced - a very misunderstood ghast: A slightly converted Chaos Sorcerer (removed third arm and tentacly arm) - his base will still get a bit more attention... Boris from Heresy (?) - I think his skin turned out a bit too "meaty" but I wanted something different from the usual colors I use for my barbarians. I have already removed the static grass on his chest ( ). Here are some Heroines in Sensible Shoes. I participated in both Kickstarters and they did a fantastic job: Concept, quality, timely delivery. And here some more misunderstood creatures of the night. These are Avatars of War Harpies of Chaos. It took them more than 2 years to complete the order (switch from resin to plastic). The kit is well priced an the minis are cast in a decent quality but not nearly as good and sharp as the stuff from GW. I will use them as vampire bats for Van Krallenfels' sinister entourage, my Warhammer Fantasy vampire counts army. Tombstones are from Tabletopworld They make nice "base-fillers" Gluing them to the gravestones (and each other) was very fidgety work: I wanted them to have differently colored hair to suggest that they were once human... As I look at the pictures I think I went over the top with the red hair - ah well... The miniatures have very limited variety concerning the different heads, bodies and wings so I tried to arrange them in a clever way - I think the result is not too bad. I hope I will find an opportunity to use them in a game soon! That's it for the moment - a few more undead to go and then I will likely continue with my Children of the Skymother or something else Grimdark.

Here are the final minis from this batch - more misunderstood and a few extras: Let's start with Crassandra the Cruel (Reaper): And here are her two bodyguards. Both are really big skeleton warriors - Kurt... ... and Knut (both Reaper). They are very serious about keeping Cassandra out of harms way. Next are some tools that any apprentice necromancer absolutely needs at the beginning of his / her career. A zombie-dog formerly know as Wally. Another base filler (Reaper and Tabletopworld bits). Reaper ghosts... ... or wraiths or whatever you like to call shadowy-yet-glowy spectral undead. I will use them as spirit hosts. A Wight King - yet to be named proprerly - from Reaper. Treasure (bonus from one of the Heroines in Sensible Shoes Kickstarter) and a... ... Nest with an important piece of paper lost among the monsters' eggses. And here a few impressions from my display cabinet where all these new minis had to somehow also fit in... Oooh, shiny! One ghast is snacking on some zombies while there seems to be an argument between two other ghasts: Van Krallenfels Champions, assemble! And here are all spirit hosts together: And to conclude - chilling in the background - the miniature I liked most: Leoric, First of the Wight Kings (The Witch King by Rage Craf Miniatures). Now it is time to choose some grimdark stuff from my pile of unpainted miniatures...

I am sorry to announce that I will leave this forum - it is technically rather slow and old-fashioned and just to much work to make the pictures visible. Also, the feedback from the community is very limited (which seems to be a general trend in many other forums as well...) If you are interested in the further developments of the Children you can follow them over here. Additionally, there are much more people I also know in real-life on the forums of TabletopWelt.de. Wishing you all the best and thanks for your company and comments!
