Sixth one done! Squad so far! Squad with the metal limited edition possessed champion who I will replace (cos the model sucks).

Coming along nicely mate, love the colour scheme you have used.
Ya it does suck when they do a limited edition figure, and don`t seem to beable to put the effort into making it look good. You could alway`s use him as a bog standard chaos marine, once you have a replacement for him.

It's been a while since I put brush to model due to focusing on gaming. I hadn't played a great deal during sixth edition, and have found myself a great new club (Wardens of the North for those interested!) to really get into seventh. Something that became glaringly obvious in my last three games was that the Chaos Codex is poop, and my army was composed largely of the poopest things in it. So in order to give myself a new edge in games I have decided to paint up some stuff that will make me slightly more competitive. Behold, Word Bearer Plague Marines - The Infected! Just started the squad. These guys are some classic Plague Marines from way back in second edition (and older). I have some Forge World Plague Marines on the way too! I wonder if I'm the first person to paint Plague Marines red?!

Who cares when they look that good?

I've seen some fairly nasty infected wounds in varying shades of red , no problems at all with that colour and they do look good! You could flip the colour palette round and have green/ brown/ fleshy coloured guts to contrast the red armour...

Nice Plague Marines you have there mate, really like the red on them. Liking the plastic ones (2sd pic up), some nice bitz in the squad.
And what Stretch said.....

Ta fellas! Got some Forge World ones coming next after this! First Plague Marine finished. Apologies for the low quality picture but the light here at the moment is not great at all. I used some more of the nurgle rot special effects paint on this guy to get a feel for how I want to do them in future. I also don't like the green gloves so future minis will have black ones or red. Little too much green on the mini and sadly the rot effect doesn't show up very well due to the quality of the picture.

Apologies again for the poor picture, the light is pretty bad in the north of England again! Still, pretty happy with him. Just three more to do of these chaps and then I can either finished the remaining possessed marines I have, or the Forge World Plague marines!

Even with poor light the marines look good mate, i think you should finish the Possessed first then go on to the Plague marines after.
Looking forward to seeing them finished.

yeah, you're probably right. I have so much stuff to be doing all of a sudden. 2 x maulerfiends 10 bikers 2 Bikers Sorcerers 1 Biker Lord 5 Gal Vorbak (Chaos Spawn) 5 more Plague Marines (at least) All I want to do is start a new army too, itching to do my Grey Knights or my Thousand Sons. But then I also want to do my fantasy Chaos army. Oh and my Daemon Prince conversion... So little time, so many projects
