Update time! And now for something compl... yeah, I suck. Soooo... Necrons! Well, this here Super Infiltrator Necron Ninja is somewhat related to my Guard army after all. For the moment I intend to include my Pariah Lord, seen in the Barry picture below, in the army, and since I need a Troops choice for the ally detachment to go along with the HQ, I am going with my favorite Necron Troops choice (not that there are many) that also happens to be the only one that is in any way effective at minimum squad size: tesla Immortals. The Necron above is the first of the five. The theme, as you will no doubt be able to tell, is that these are totally not Necrons but a bunch of Adeptus Mechanicus dudes hanging out with a Guard platoon (no doubt to oversee the deployment of the valuable Deathstrike the platoon is charged with protecting). The conversion is fairly basic, simply adding a green stuff robe to a normal Immortal (see comparison below for one of the unconverted ones). Currently I'm thinking two tone color scheme for the robe, probably red and bone, though I'm not sure about specifics yet. I'll add freehand cogs to the robe, though. I'm fairly sure I want to do that. I also don't know if everyone will get the exact same robe design, or if they're all mint or some are tattered. Input on any of this is appreciated.

Pretty neat conversion, if they're supposed to be Adeptus Mechs (honest!) then wouldn't their robes be in reasonably good condition? Not quite sure how a Pariah butchering Sisters (where did they come from?) would sit with an IG army though

Thanks. We're used to it Pretty neat conversion, if they're supposed to be Adeptus Mechs (honest!) then wouldn't their robes be in reasonably good condition? Good point. Got to keep up appearances. Mint robes it is. Not quite sure how a Pariah butchering Sisters (where did they come from?) would sit with an IG army though Because they're totally techno heretics and they insulted the Omnissiah's mother and did you see how they didn't maintain their wargear and it failed them in their hour of need? Let that be a lesson to you, Guardsman! Maintain your gear and keep your lasgun clean or a crazy machine chick comes and eviscerates you! Also, boobies.

Update time! First Ministorum Priest ready for painting: Quite simply conversion, as I said before. The Chaos star gets converted to an Ecclesiarchy symbol, the book and skull are from the Flagellant kit and the mandatory WYSIWYG equipment of laspistol, close combat weapon and frag grenades are, unsurprisingly, from Cadian and Catachan kits. The laspitols holster is a press mold replica, since they're scarce. I think I never had more than half a dozen or so, which is an obvious problem for such a ubiquitous weapon as a laspistol, used by armies with high model count to boot. Green stuff has the added advantage that jamming the holster in the narrow space between arm and torso is made easy because the material is a bit flexible. I'm pretty sure I would have had to do some cutting on a plastic piece. This one was done first because his pendant hangs from his neck, in front of his chest. The other two models have them dangling in the air, which is trickier, slower work. That'll take a tiny bit longer, especially since I messed one of them up halfway through because of my shaky hands. But since I have plenty of other Guard models to paint, I think that'll make no difference... Speaking of paint, this priest now has an undercoat and is awaiting painting. I'd like to paint him, but I'd also like to paint the five Conscripts I've had on the table for a month and that are still not done. Maybe I'll be morew motivated to paint them after the priest is out of the way. We'll see. One thing I'm not sure about is what colors will go with the soldiers' fatigues (which you can see in the Barry picture above). I'm also not sure how much variety I want to bring in by painting all three models differently (or not). I do knwo I won't paint them in the same (or any other) camo pattern, instead going with a civilian clothes from an industrialized world look. Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Nice work with the GS ......instead going with a civilian clothes from an industrialized world look. Thoughts and suggestions welcome. No idea if it would work or not but how does the idea of a dayglo hi-vis sound?

It's not that the model really needs it, but maybe just to further push people with their nose on the fact this is an Imperial Priest and not a Cultist (because we all know the model that good in this role), you could add a second Imperial or Inquisitorial symbol on his back (on the book for example).

That is a very fine model mr Geifer. Perhaps the Irontooth is right, the mini could benefit from something more - doesn't strictly need it though. But instead of more =II= symbols, why not try to add something unexpected. Some sort of twisted weapon(sickle/darkeldear/rusted/oversized) or perhaps an evil looking cyberfamiliar or even a servoskull.
If you want to go for industrial look, I'll say - YES! Greys and black with a strong color added in small areas - like trims, lenses etc.

Thanks, guys. Your wish is my command. I want to do more freehand, so expect to find some painted on aquila. I think I'll give the prayer book a Roman numeral and an aquila. Maybe put something on the hood, too. Although I'm feeling rather cautious about the idea, since I deliberately stayed away from the priest in priestly robes with priestly equipment and priestly priestliness. Manus, I'm not convinced that your idea works. First, it's me. If I put something dodgy on the priest, the only time someone says, "oh, that's so unexpected", the irony of the statement is so thick that if I dropped it on a small dog, I'd kill it. Second, he's a priest with an assault rifle. Does he really need torture tools as well? He may be a backwater preacher, but he's still officially sanctioned by the Ecclesiarchy and a devout servant of the Emperor (and no one else for a change). Hm, got to look through my collection of grays. I think I should have enough to give this a go if they didn't dry up in the meantime. Maybe I'll reserve if for the next one, though. I'm not really sure if the composition of this one's clothing is made for it. Hood, coat, pants. If I paint the pants black, I would have to paint the hood and coat gray. I'm not sure I want two different grays on the model, but I don't want to paint both the same color either. Gray pants sounds good, but I don't know if I want a black coat with that. Or a black hood, for that matter, especially if it's on a coat with a different color. Maybe gray pants and hood work with a black coat. Hm, what to do, what to do? Woohoo! Go indecision! No idea if it would work or not but how does the idea of a dayglo hi-vis sound? A what now?

Aiii! My eyes!
Well, thanks. Hi-Viz. Hehe. Never knew what you call those things.
Hmm, something to think about. The idea isn't bad, on the one hand. On the other hand, the Imperium isn't exactly know for its safety equipment. Hmmm.
