Update time! Supposedly. If you can call it an update. What with me having hit a wall and everything. Motivation to get my Dark Elves took off with my money and is enjoying sunny Acapulco right now... Sooooooooooo... Fantasy isn't my favorite game, that would still be 40k. After a couple of months of intensive Fantasy work and games I just can't bring myself to do any more. Yes, I noticed that only after two months of doing nothing. Go me! So, in order to get stuff rolling again I'm having me some 40k again. after agonizing over why things aren't going as I would like I realized that it is in fact because the armies I have and would like to paint and play are all metal. You guessed it, Sisters, and there is unfortunately nothing I can do about that. But there's another candidate. My Imperial Guard army of yore is a big pile of unpainted metal models. Go me! Fret not, however, for GW provides the answer! Four days from now the terrain book will be released and I'll get rules for my Wall of Martyrs terrain to use in games. Woo! Now, Wall of Martyrs features plenty of dead Cadians, contemporary ones, not the old ones I have. Because I'm all for tying my armies and terrain together I am feeling really good about investing in a new Guard army right now. Frankly, it's not even that big an investment because I already have a batlleforce box and some random bits from past projects so with the new one I bought (that got me a free Chimera on top of it Yay for Christmas deals!) I'll cover my compulsory choices, which will be a platoon and a squad of veterans, which will be 55 men and however many heavy and special weapon squads I can squeeze out of the remaining models. So, lots of assembling to do now. Soon the 3rd Nova Bryanskaya marches to war! For the Emperor!

Update time! This is going to be the color scheme for my 3rd Nova Bryanskaya Guard regiment, shamelessly jacked from the two-tone Bryansk camo pattern from Company of Heroes 2. Equally shamelessly jacked, the regimental name. This is only the test model as you can tell from the unpainted base. The color scheme itself is complete, but I'll have to look into unit markings before I finish up the model with weathering and varnish (and basing ).

Looking very good - have you thought about putting a third tone in the brown patches?

That is great! The eyes area really well done, he has that kind of `100 yard stare` "I've seen things man, things you wouldn't believe! You weren't there man, you weren't there...."

Thanks, guys. Looking very good - have you thought about putting a third tone in the brown patches? I had to think a bit about that. Yes, I did indeed think about adding another color. That's the short answer. The long one? It all starts back at the dawn of time, the last millennium, the last century, but not the last decade but instead two decades ago. All at once. I, one of such superior intellect that I make Khan look like a child, put that intellect to use and decided, quite rashly, one might say, on a color scheme for my Imperial Guard. This one. Yep, that's right. I came up empty for well over fifteen years. At which point good fortune intervened, because as mentioned above, this camo pattern isn't exactly an original creation of mine, and I found myself with a camo pattern that is both easy to paint en masse and that I really like. A rare combination indeed. I'm not decided, but first, I don't have a problem with the colors as they are now. I can see how the scheme might benefit from another color, but I don't feel it is needed. Second, this is easy to paint. I am looking at, umm, something like seventy models? Three of which are tanks. Plus since this will be my official Cadian camo pattern it'll go on my Wall of Martyrs pieces as well. I can really, really warm up to the idea of having a painted army again. I am so tired of playing with partially painted ones by now that anything that makes this one easy to paint is something I won't change out of a whimsy. Plus, then I'd have to decide on that third tone, and how it fits into the existing pattern. Who knows how long that will take? Then there's the question of how that will look on a tank. The original is a vehicle only camo pattern, and it is this that I really like. The infantry model I painted is an adaptation. So I couldn't even decide until I've painted a vehicle first, all of which are still on sprues at this time. But.. Yes, there's one of those... I am in no hurry to put varnish on this model or his buddies that have just been base coated. I doubt that I will use the army before January, so there is plenty of time to think about the color scheme still. And listen to suggestions, if you or anyone else has some. That is great! The eyes area really well done, he has that kind of `100 yard stare` "I've seen things man, things you wouldn't believe! You weren't there man, you weren't there...." FK It's funny because I like to think it was an accident. My hands were surprisingly steady when I painted the eyes on this model, much more than I'm used to. What's even funnier is that this is a conscript in his first (and probably last) battle.

What's even funnier is that this is a conscript in his first (and probably last) battle. I thought he reminded me of Rincewind (ohshi...........) It's a good two colours you've picked for the cammo, got a vaguely Eastern Europe look to it. It might be worth thinking about a third colour for the tanks but that's a bridge to cross when you get to it. A few badges and flashes and a load of mates, he's going to look fine

It might be worth thinking about a third colour for the tanks but that's a bridge to cross when you get to it. I think the third color on tanks will be, umm, red? Like this: And maybe Typhus Corrosion. Yeah, probably Typhus Corrosion. I mean, very, very likely Typhus Corrosion. I love the new technical paints and haven't tried (or bought, my local store was sold out) it yet. I'll indeed have to wait until I have the basic paint on a tank model, though. Painting green and orange is still pretty new to me and I have trouble imagining how it'll look. I need to see it with my own eyes. I have to say, though, that after a couple of days I'm feeling really positive about the test model. I'm not feeling any urge to add to the camo pattern yet.

Thanks, FK. Not that hard mate, and only 54 to go...................Easyyyyyyyy Doom.... Yeah, let's not talk about how guy number one, or number fifty five, if you prefer, isn't technically done until he is based and weathered. ... And then there's the two tanks.... And the Wall of Martyrs pieces.... And the bloody Necron allies, too!... Oh, plus the Commisar Lord. Can't forget about the mandatory HQ. Yep, I'll have them all painted in no time!
