Looks like I've located a wizard/shaman one so the front rank will have a normal unit champion/musician/standard then, an additional 2 plastic bosses, a shaman and a metal big boss. The characters bar the metal model came in the starter box so I'm thinking of just including them in the unit cost. So it looks like I'm skipping the whirling fanatics for now and replacing them with the metal character so it'll come n just under the £60 Jan/Feb combined target. 50 models should be fine to do in 5 weeks if I can get my batch painting mojo back.

Wow! By my count if you get them all done it'll be about 4 units? That's a lot of work to do sir!

I'll paint them and you can allocate the points, not really got the points system worked out. Just going to paint what I fancy.

Think I might have a rethink on what to paint as I've got a few days to get cracking with something. Just need to decide what it'll be and the weather to perk up. If the weather doesn't perk up I'll bank the £30 and just double up next month.

Well there's 51 Gobo's now undercoated black. Think the clothing is getting a rough drybrush grey and then a heavy brown wash for the standard grunts. Might have to do a different colour for the characters.
Question is ... Should I block in the flesh 1st and then wash at the same time as the clothing ... or deal with the flesh after?

Wash everything at the same time.

Can't believe I'm having to really think about what I'm doing. It's been a few months since I did any real batch painting and what had become almost autopilot has gone. Having a look at the models and I think I'm going to:
- drybrush grey - block in the flesh - highlight the flesh - pick out any rope/rags in a light brown/dark cream - pick out the moon details in yellow - block in the spear shafts in dark red - block in the spear tips in bronze - wash with brown wash
Now then next question what colours should I use for any shaman and/or warboss? Part of me thinks yellow would work well as brown works quite well as a shade, but the same applies for red.

Really need to find my favourite drybrushing brush. It's a high quality 1" decorators brush with none shedding bristles. Then it'll be time to get really cracking with this project and all the grey/black clothing.
Maybe messed up slightly ... I glued 2 bases worth of snotlings to the bases without painting beforehand. Now I'm struggling to get the paint brush in to paint them. There's 15+ bases worth of the little critters and they're a pain to paint this way. Looks like I'm going to have to stick them all on painting sticks then apply to bases and afterward.
Other things needing to sort out is converting up a muscian/standard/boss for the unit of OOP plastic goblins with the pom-pom spears I've got to paint. The Warboss who will be joining them will be one of the WD subscription models from many years ago if the model is the one I think it is.
Hmmm ... And yes this blog is lacking in pic's ... So Wednesday I'll have to get that sorted as well.
On a side note anyone ran all goblin/night goblin forces? What size should the units be? Should I go for maximum or minimum frontage? Is 40 - 50 models strong about right or OTT? Also what's a sensible number of shaman to have?

In an attempt to kick start the painting of the goblins I've treated myself to a few new paints for the flesh. Will have to see if this does anything to help.

Not happy with the test models I've done so blacked them back up. I'm now thinking of scrapping plans to do these asap as even concentrating on a single character isn't helping me get my painting mojo going for the green skins. So I'll be sticking them on the back burner for a bit. Think 30k is too great a pull for this hobby butterfly. I'll come back to these when my brother comes over as a project to do with him rather than getting them painted for him. Lol ... This probably meant he'll be round later in the week and we'll get a load done. Life keeps throwing curve balls at me of late, so who knows.

Nevermind mate, when the mojo isn't there don't force it! You'll get points whenever you get stuff done if you like

Funny enough my brothers coming around Wednesday night now, so I may end up doing something this week after all.

Think it's safe to say this ones getting put to bed for 6+ months.
Maybe 2015 will be more WHFB focused for me.
I've kept everything separately boxed up so when it's time to let the green skins fester again I'll have everything to hand.
