I was blown away when I first saw the Centurions. I space marine wearing a warsuit was just too awesome. The models are a little stumpy straight out of the box so I added a spacer to the waists to lift them up a bit. I also chopped the legs at the hip to create striding poses so they don't look as static. Having painted the entire 4th and 1st company and half of the scout company, I feel it's time to start a new company. I really like the fluff for the 2nd company but find the paint job lacking. As a compromise I decided to go full retro and paint them like the the old 2nd edition marines. Oh and here's the all important comparison shot. Loads more pics over on the blog I contribute to. taleofpainters.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/showcase-ultramarine-centurion.html#comment-form

They actually look really good in the old colours! I think lighter shades suit them better.

I'm loving those! I do think I'll get some at some point. Just don't agree with the fluff on how they fit into the chapter organisation.

Try to think of the warsuit as a piece of equipment much like a thunderfire cannon. It makes it easier to slot into the fluff.

Try to think of the warsuit as a piece of equipment much like a thunderfire cannon. It makes it easier to slot into the fluff. Well in that case it'll be part of the armoury like tanks, rather than part of a company on it's own. Makes me even more aware that a chapter is actually a lot more than a thousand marines! So that being said I think I would therefore make mine attached to the 3rd and wear their colours but not actually a part of it. Unlike any bike or land speeder squadrons, as those (as stated in the index Arstartes book) are made up from the reserve companies (6th and 7th respectively I think...).

Very nice indeed Garfy, a combination of the conversion work and a superb paint job really has made those models look great! FK

Not a fan of the kit but you do make them look better than the original.

Really liking the paint job and the slight conversion does improve those models so much!!!
Gaming wise I faced 6 of those this weekend and it's like getting hit with a sledge hammer especially when pumped up by Tigurius.

Beat me to it. Really nice work there. Mine will have the same colors but won't look half as good.
