So with the impending drop of Inferno book 7 of the Horus Heresy FW series has anyone been tempted to make a Legion of SW's?
I'm toying with the idea of going into it with gusto. I've even been working on my airbrushing skills and saving for a new airbrush.
I've been trying to make a workable army list but the rules for the SW's leaked seem to be very restrictive. As I'm unlikely to game much I can see this being a show piece army for me rather than a finely honed army.
So many Grey Slayers will be had!!!
I'm also going to be pulling out all the possible 30k models I have in my collection.
So are you answering the call?
What are your thoughts on the hand dealt to them and how do you think one could make an effective list?

While I technically have an interest in Space Wolves, whenever I thought about making a Heresy force of them, I figured the models would be much better used on Imperial Fists. I can't comment on the rules since I'm not really paying attention to the Horus Heresy and my Imperial Fists (as in, at this point, the models I bought for that purpose) are currently no more than a painting project that may or may not see the tabletop in the future, but I always like the look of the Heresy Space Wolves a lot more than the modern one. Always good to see more models painted like that. From what I gathered, though, unless you play with the wrong people, it's still Space Marines versus Space Marines, so I have no idea what the restrictiveness is that you talk about.

The RoW they have don't allow drop pods, stop you using heavy support in any meaningful way and ... make you use a lot of characters plus grey slayers. However you loose the unique rule for Grey Slayers if you add a character to them. There's a lack of synergy in the list, things don't work with each other that well.
So for example if you want to build up a force the first 1k points has to have as compulsory choice either a Praetor or Centurion (you can't use a named character for this even our Primarch can't fulfil the compulsory choice) and 2 Grey Slayer units. But you can't include the character with either unit without loosing warriors mettle.
Just going to build with the rule of cool.
