Signed up. With a BA tourney on the near horizon locally it makes sense as I'll get four games in, plus the Club campaign games too. For once I might actually be able to participate in something like this.

It's a nice idea to have such a campaign. I certainly hope for the next one to come when Bolt Action is a bit more established around here. I got in three games for the campaign, and being so historically accurate I won Poland, tied Barbarossa and lost Berlin with my Germans. Just as planned! Highlights were my Kriegsmarine not doing a damn thing in any game and getting pinned into oblivion, shot to pieces, or both. Heroes the lot of them. Even had their U-Boat moment when they rode an Sd.Kfz. 251 and, getting pinned in their usual fashion, wouldn't get out of it to, literally, save their lives and instead tried to dive with the damn thing instead of doing something about the Soviets swarming them. Similarly, Erich, my army's only Knight's Cross recipient and also bearer of the only assault rifle in the army, really showed me how he got it in the first place: not hitting a thing, even in the open at close range. If facing an overwhelming enemy when you have bad eyesight and a weapon that doesn't work can surely be nothing short of insane bravery, or something... On a positive note, Sepp the Hitler Youth boy got an Iron Cross 2nd Class for mowing down Russians by the dozen and hold a flank almost single handedly. Yay!

Nope, actual Germans. Except for Otto. I think he may be Polish, but the Waffen-SS takes anyone these days, so who knows?
I love my Japanese, but they aren't the most exciting to paint, so I bought a Last Levy box. Kids and civilians, that should look different I figured, plus the models look really cool. Added the Kriegsmarine for the same reason. The special weapon units are made up from the Waffen-SS selection, because honestly, after five inexperienced squads I'd like to have a unit or two that does something. Plus, being Berlin themed, I figured that anyone left in the city at the time was either a real volunteer who believed in the cause, or the other kind of volunteer that didn't get out in time.
So yeah, I kind of invaded Poland with Volkssturm and Hitler Youth, because I cannot yet muster time specific troops (that works so much better with Japanese, who didn't really change looks or equipment during the war), but they were actual, genuine German troops.
