So, in order to play Port Pulpo Crawler, we need Dice and measure-sticks cut to size A table full of scenery and figs, Gobbo Pirates on one side, deep-sea-gribblies on the other And two gameing enthousiasts, ready to oppose evil daddy with his aquatic minions The rules are simple : the Goblin Pirates want to get to their ship, but the critters from the abyss want the Goblins to stay for supper. You move 6" every turn (the length of the measuring stick) except for the Goblin in the wheelchair, he goes double speed. Blunderbusses can shoot flame-template or small round template. You auto-hit, wound on a 4+. No saves at all anywhere. Small figs have one attack and one wound; biggies have 3 attacks and three wounds. Monkey can climb and/or leap the entire distance of his move. In subsequent games, rules can be complexified bit by bit, allowing the little ones to learn the game-world in small and easy steps. Sea-critters outnumber the Goblins, but have no ranged attacks at all, where the Goblins have access to Pistols, Harpoons, Blunderbusses and Cannons (well, one small cannon, on wheels) A small move for a fig, but a huge leap for Warre, moving his very first fig ever in a skirmish wargame My minions moving into position Hmmm, this reminds me of a scene from the book "Moving pictures" Close combat all around! After the game, won by the Gobbos, I had two lads (7 and 5 years old) excitingly reliving the adventures they just had, planning possible new scenarios, asking whether we'd have another go tomorrow, and trying to explain to mom all what they had done :lol!:

Well lets face it, it was inevitable that they'd follow in your footsteps

Yes indeed, and I made sure they would get hooked by forbidding any and all acces to my figs, books and whatnot for 7 years in a row...
Forbidden fruit tastes soooo much nicer when you finally get access....

Another day, another game… In the left corner, we have Jack Sparra and his bonny fellas, accompanied by an Ogre; on the right of gim we’ve got Deeeevey Jones and his not-so-bonny, more boney, skeleton crew In the right corner, we have got all kinds of slithery slimy things from the deep, with an appetite for pirate hats Let’s get ready tooo rrrrrruuuuuuumbleeeeeee First turn, the drowned waif gently floats through the rock Followed closely by her rattling companions On the other side of the table a lot of slithering and sliding takes place Both sides keep on inching forwards until the first resistance is met… And the critters of the deep suffer from the wailing of the drowned waif In the meantime, the Ogre gets distracted by the butchers’ fine meats Slowly but surely both parties reach the middle of the table, where a real meatgrinder begins… In the end, there was one sole survivor on the Pirates-side : a small monkey that hid in the ships’ masts… I’ll try to aim for a more turn-by-turn report next time…
