Got my infantry section painted up eventually, what fun. First I had to find out what colour the uniforms were so I Googled WWII British Infantry;Images which lead to this site, the photos are of re-enactors and dated pre-1998, and the uniforms are brown (WWII RAF slang for army personnel was 'Brown Jobs' so the colour wasn't unexpected) - except for the colour illustrations which have a distinctly green look to them. So I had a look at the uniforms on my 'A Bridge Too Far' DVD, General Bogarde's uniform isn't as green as his shirt and tie but it's still a lot greener than brown, Colonel Connery's uniform's about the same and Colonel Hackman's uniform is a lightish grey/green (the Poles wore standard British Khaki Drill Battle Dress) - one of those three letter internet abbreviations come to mind So I had a look at Wikipedia which reckoned that BattleDress was made up of green and brown threads and was produced in Britain, Canada and the USA, Canadian garments being a greener colour than British ones. So, I thought OK, start with a brown basecoat and highlight by adding green and white to the brown, wasn't hugely convinced but they came out like this Still not convinced. I don't really know if these on their own are actually worth starting a thread for so if anyone else gets some strug Bolt Action stuff, feel free to just park it in here.

Doom; Cheers, decided what colour you're likely to go for yet? Eiglepulper; Good Grief!!! That looks to be at least £70 worth of paint - I only spent about £14 on the figures The brown I used was Burnt Umber:Burnt Sienna:Yellow Ochre in a 2:1:1 mix highlighting up with Hookers Green:Titanium White at about 1:1 added gradually to the brown. Webbing was about 3:2:1 Hookers Green:Yellow Ochre:Burnt Sienna I hadn't really planned on buying more, of course that is always subject to change

I like the color. Well, I can't say if it's accurate of course, but it doesn't look off to me. You can also add "Osprey" to your google search. Osprey Publishing has some nice illustrations that you may take insipration from. Personally I wouldn't sweat a little difference in tone and instead go with a color you like. With all due respect to historical correctness, we are working on miniatures, which have an aesthetic component the original is not required to have. What's good in actual combat may not look very appealing on a miniature, no matter how accurate a representation it is. The brown I used was Burnt Umber:Burnt Sienna:Yellow Ochre in a 2:1:1 mix highlighting up with Hookers Green:Titanium White at about 1:1 added gradually to the brown. Webbing was about 3:2:1 Hookers Green:Yellow Ochre:Burnt Sienna Green hookers? James T., is that you?
