Brothers, I am thinking/planning on converting one of my Stormraven Gunships here soon. I was thinking of using the troop bay, engines and wings from and IG Valkyrie. Anyone's thoughts on this? I had thought of maybe picking up a set of the hull extensions from Chapterhouse Studios, but, alas, that was not possible. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are welcome.

Well as conversion kits go the Chapter House one was pretty cool, but did look a little like a stretch limo from some angles. I got the Forgeworld kit for the Storm Eagle, that does look a lot more cool in my opinion but hardly cheap and was a bit of a chore getting bits to fit from warpage and just plain not fitting correctly.

I have a couple of thoughts. I converted my Stormblebee to remove the worst parts of the model as I see them, which are the air intake and the wing shape. You can see it in the picture below. It's straight out of the box, basically. I still don't think having the Dreadnought dangle free in the wind is a sensible design, but I didn't care to go beyond simple changes for that conversion. With regard to your plans, I'm terrible at imagining such things, so I'm not really sure how that would fit together. The design is a little different for Marines and Imperial Guard, for instance the rivets are sunken into the armor plates on the Valkyrie. Not sure if you want to mix such things on the same model. Also, think of the function. The Marines are taken care of by the original troop compartment, while the Dreadnought won't realistically fit inside the Valkyrie compartment. That's a design flaw of the Stormblebee if you ask me - the free hanging Dreadnought is simple retarded by the chassis cannot well be modified to incorporate an enclosed compartment. I've never seen the Chapterhouse kit, but even a bus look has to be an improvement over the original design. If it were me, I think I'd try to construct a compartment with a hatch at the bottom. Or the entire bottom being the hatch. Have the Dreadnoght lifted up into the armored compartment, shut the doors below it (it would stand on them as well), then deploy it by hovering above ground and winching it down. Going by the size of the Dreadnought, if you want a slim fuselage, the Dreadnought had best be transported sideways. Me, I just can't see a way to convert a Stormblebee to look good and look like it could actually transport a Dreadnought any other way, but that may just be my limited imagined. So I would not go with a Valkyrie and back hatch for deployment. Stretching the fuselage with plasticard would be my favored approach. As for the wings, well, anything's better than the original, so...

What I was thinking of using the compartment for was either a bike squad or a Landspeeder...I was thinking of adding plasti-card to the outside of the Valkyrie troop compartment to take away the recessed rivets. More or less adding more armour plating to it. I was thinking of using the Dreadnaught in the interior, then, have the bike squad/landspeeder for faster deployment....
