i recently got the new codex of spacewolves and reading up on the new rules it has. I have some questions on a the codex. - Am i reading it correctly that SW can have up to 6 HQ in a normal game?
- Logan grimnar is a lord of war. Does it mean he can not be taken in a regular game? or how do i take him?
- When and how do i use a great company list? it holds imo an illegal selection as it needs 5 grey hunter packs and then adds 3 units from either bloodclaws, swift or skyclaw. Which invalidates that you can take only one bloodclaw pack anymore as the other 5 troop slots are already taken by hunters.
those are my questions for now.

You can take up to 1 lord of war in a single detachment as an optional choice so yes you can take LG in a regular game. Yep minimum of 2, maximum of 6 HQ must be taken. Not sure about the great company question, I haven't read that far yet...

If it's anything like the new ork rules then it's possible that the great company list is the equivalent of a 'formation' which has to be taken exactly as specified.

Am i reading it correctly that SW can have up to 6 HQ in a normal game? If you choose your army using the Space Wolves specific FOC, yes. You follow this FOC and not the one from the rulebook, as long as you want to use a single FOC only. Logan grimnar is a lord of war. Does it mean he can not be taken in a regular game? or how do i take him? The FOC has more than HQ, Elite, Troops, Fast Attack and Heavy Support, just like the combined arms FOC from the rulebook. You also get one Lord of War choice and one Fortification, listed with all the other FOC categories. So it's perfectly legal to have Logan even in the simplest army. By contrast, the allies FOC, for instance, has no Lord of War choice. When and how do i use a great company list? it holds imo an illegal selection as it needs 5 grey hunter packs and then adds 3 units from either bloodclaws, swift or skyclaw. Which invalidates that you can take only one bloodclaw pack anymore as the other 5 troop slots are already taken by hunters. A formation is a detachment, and your army is required to have only one detachment. So if you use the great company, you need not follow any other organizational obligations. The formation replaces the normal FOC. You choose your army as the formation dictates, which allows you to have, for instance, eight Troops choices if you select three Blood Claw packs. There is nothing illegal about this.

Ok, that's a real help here. Thanks a lot for this. I had a bit of trouble compiling this info. Best i could find was lords of war from escalation, and i didn't have that book, so.
