Ooh stretch this sounds ominous...
Not got mine yet but could you just tell me if there is actually any way to use bikes as troops (in a battleforged list I mean)

Well, the most important rule is still in the codex. I teleported my Big Mek into a bunch of Ogryns today (that's shock attack for you!). So I'm happy. But apart from the presence of the odd nice rule, the biggest issue with the new codex (I don't have a problem with unbound force organization, so I don't consider the absence of FOC reshuffling a problem at all) is that for an army like Orks that puts such emphasis on uniqueness, customization and such, the codex simply does not offer much in the way of customization. Less than the old one even, and I already didn't like that one. The problem being that it simply follows the same design pattern used for every codex these days. Sonething either fits into the design parameters, or it gets cut out. Happened to my Tomb Kings, too. I'm not upset because I fully expect GW to botch up codices in the most horrible fashion these days (being a fan of Tomb Kings, and since 2011 apparently a fan of Tomb Kings in Space!, too, has taught me to have zero expectations). I have very few needs when it comes to Orks, and they are met more or less only halfway. It feels like I should end this paragraph with something positive, saying, but then there's this and that, which is kind of cool. Can't really think of anything, though. I already mentioned the presence of my favorite shokk attack gun result. Not sure how often I can milk that for positivity. So, better luck next time, as far as I'm concerned. At least I like the new models. That does it, I will only ever order stuff from the discount stores from now on, and I will be writing to GW again complaining if the parcel does not arrive by the end of today! Do that. Even if it still arrives today, you should not buy from GW directly. They've had a policy in place for a while, over a year, really, that you only get your order on release day if you have it shipped to a GW store. If you mail order, they send stuff out on the morning when it's released, so you're not likely to get it before Monday or Tuesday after. That's the theory anyway. Some people do get their orders early. Others, like a friend of mine ordering his Dwarf book, had a nice, long three week wait. It's like roulette. It's a gamble and the bank always wins. I wouldn't buy from GW directly if there was any other way. Still, I hope you get your codex as soon as possible.

Ok so nothing arrived, as predicted! And that doesn't sound very good Stretch! Maybe I should just dump my Orks and stop bothering with them any more! What am I going to do with 36 Meganobs?

Apparently a mek with a shokk attack gun can ride a bike now, presumably with a sidecar full of snotlings for ammo

Ok so nothing arrived, as predicted! And that doesn't sound very good Stretch! Maybe I should just dump my Orks and stop bothering with them any more! What am I going to do with 36 Meganobs? Come on. Don't let GW get you down. There's still good fun to be had playing Orks. Assuming you don't want to go unbound, how about playing two force organization charts? All you need are two HQs and four Troops, which is easy enough for Orks. Do that you you have to ask yourself, why do I only have 36 Meganobs if I could could have 60 instead? And at the risk of sounding like I'm campaigning for GW, unbound force organization is a fair tool for creating theme armies. Don't let all the cries about spamming the meanest unit you can think of (usually Riptide for people with little imagination) dissuade you. When you look at an army, you can see if it's power gaming or genuinely building on a theme. Regardless of whether it all fits into one FOC, several, or goes unbound. There's no harm in using the rules that are provided in the new rulebook, unless you intentionally try to break them. Apparently a mek with a shokk attack gun can ride a bike now, presumably with a sidecar full of snotlings for ammo You can, and I will, once I get around to converting mine. But now you have me consider adding a bucket full of snotlings...

What am I going to do with 36 Meganobs? From Redtoof on Da Waaagh OK, maybe not 36 of da gits but alternatively, stick a warphead in with each mob of them and see if you can get 'Da Jump' on dem uvva gits You can, and I will, once I get around to converting mine. But now you have me consider adding a bucket full of snotlings... I've got to admit it's very tempting

Anyone here get the LE book with all the goodies that come in it? You know the LE version that was numbered ?Did you see any numbers?? Yup. GW forgot to number the LE ork set. One of the local players to me pointed it out and confirmed it with GW US CustSupport. No numbers. GW is sending out number stickers to those who shelled out $165 (not sure in pounds) to 'fix' the issue. Enjoy.

Haha LE without the LE numbering. Awesome GW, awesome.
HG it would not surprise me that there will be a data slate or a detachment that can allow the Meganobz to show up to a fight in a battle forged list. With a couple of added rules no doubt for fielding a large number.
Unbound still has a massive disadvantage when playing Maelstrom of War missions though in my limited experience to date. Super Scoring troops for turn by turn point scoring is pretty powerful for those battle forged types out there.
