Since there are no extra Marines that I want to increase the size of my Crimson Fists I've decided for an Inqusitorial detachment. I thought it might be a good idea to have a unit of Arbites. The base models are Eisenkern Stormtroops by Dreamforge games; they're not at all bad considering they are manufactured by Wargames Factory, though thankfully not designed by them! Heads are Maxmini and the rest of the bits are various GW bits and bobs notably Chimera armour plates for the shields and sentinel aerials as truncheons, they're probably a bit small for marines though unfortunately. I'm going to get these painted and then I've got to work out a way of making the two cybermastiffs I need for the squad, any ideas? Then I'll dig out a chimera that I think is over my mate's house to make a sweat box

Nice work. It seems the heads and bodies fit quite well, both in size and design. The riot shields are really grat, but almost cry out for more decoration than just the seals. Or are you going freehand/decals? The bludgeons look like a good idea, but they seem a little long to me, so I would suggest shortening them a little (of course it might just be the perspective of the photo). And anti-riot flamers? A great idea I hope no police force will take you up on ;-)

Cheers quareni. The shields will be freehanded and there is one stick that is too long but I reckon it'll just break all the time if I do, might swap it though. Web guns are what they used to have, flamers are the closest available (no shotguns in the =I= list either)

Right then, some paint. All of them have had some up to some point but this one has volunteered for experimental duties. His shield has been freehanded but I'm not sure if I should give it some battle damage like scuffs, scratches and burn marks and whatnot. I don't want to go too far, writing "POLICE" on there was a right nuisance and I'm happy with it (I have to concentrate though, I don't want any "POLITE" ones). I suppose any scratches will have to be top down; I suppose if you're throwing bricks at the police then you ain't aiming for their feet? Another thing I'm not sure about is the blue light on the left shoulder, to OSL or not? Thought is that it's meant to be strobing like, well a police light. I can't quite imagine how to paint a light that's flashing and how it would interact with the rest of the figure, one thing I am sure on though is that it will do just that not the rest of the unit like a real one would, that way lies madness. What do you think the effect of making a very narrow fan of bright light that will illuminate all that is in it's path while the rest is barely affected. I'm thinking that a mirror spinning round a bulb would do that, hmm? Opinions? Pictures? Ok, pictures...
