Just three more troops to go before the ranks/squad markings get applied:

Here are two pics of the same platoon: They are fully painted, have had their ranks put on (not that you can see them from this far away) and since the picture was taken, have been gloss varnished ready for decals. I have the number decals for them already but am waiting for the regiment decals to arrive from Dom's Decals (I only ordered them a day or so ago so that is not a 'stampy foot' waiting ). So it's just decals and a matt varnish to go .

I am going to add decals to these ones, matt varnish these and the tigers and then I'll put my urban force on the table for a pic. I have two more mechanised platoons (basic infantry with APCs/IFVs) to finish, one heavy mechanised platoon (better equipped troops with vehicles) and a recon/sniper section to sort out... in addition to the aircraft, before the army is finished. But I'll have enough finished for a nice 'stepping stone' army pic .

Is everyone fed up with grey? I know I am... so here is a little miniature that I have wanted for ages but has just been released (Hasslefree Miniatures): There are other pictures and information as to why he is purple (and how converted versions will end up in the NMA), here: insosworld.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/spring-is-in-air.htmlI hope you like him .

I have been thinking and have decided that it's about time I restarted an old project... It's about time I dug out the Minicrons and finished painting what I have got assembled. Here's where it is at: Since that picture, another two skimmers were finished: But then it stalled... so I will start painting heavies first But I doubt you'd want to see them...

I have a few interesting Minicrons in the pipeline and they will not necessarily be exactly as advertised (especially the snipers). ...and that is just the assembled stuff. I won't be touching the 'to assemble' stuff untill I have finished what I've got assembled (I doubt people would be too interested in a beetle shaped monolith, any way ).

You know how quickly I get distracted and this week has been no exception! I have been painting Minicrons but yesterday, I got a parcel... I was lucky enough to win this on Ebay: 30 new on sprue with six poorly assembled and a bit covered in glue... so the six that weren't on the sprues were perfect for a bit of conversion. Here is the first one: There are areas that I think need changing... but it is a gradual process so the next one will reflect the changes. Comments welcome I have enough bolters, Catachan Lasguns, Cadian Lasguns and the ones that came in this box of guard... which weapons do you think would be best for the troops (I am not sold on the old school lasguns ).

Bolters. Perfectly fit the theme of your force: short, compact but pack a heck of a punch. Plus the 'look' would just be better, in my not so humble opinion.

Cheers The next one is on the work bench and is going to be a standard trooper... but he'll also get a bit of extra shortening to his torso so he doesn't look so stretched with tiny legs... should be fun
