Just need to fill in a few small cracks but other than that they're ready to be cast up.

Spent all morning sanding down the edges of the dread size bases. It'll make all the difference once I start casting them up as there won't be any ridges on the sides to sand down on the cast ones and they're much more circular on top.
Now it's time to go over it with modelling clay to make sure there's no overhangs that will cause issues. Mainly under the pipes where there's currently less than 1mm strip connecting. Running sulphur free modelling putty under each side and smoothing off gives a bit more thickness to the connecting joint so less likely to end up having bubbles. It'll also give me a chance to minimise the visibility of any joints.
The weird thing is I can do details in clay but find it really difficult to do the same in GS. Guess clay is a lot more forgiving. Might try some other sculpting mediums to see if any others suit me better.

Crumbs it's taken close to 1kg of rubber to do the mould for the 5 dread sized bases. Here's hoping that it's a bubble free mould!

Not sure quite why the rubber has gone off quite as quickly as it has. Think it's something to do with the temperature and humidity. But this does mean I could sneak peak at the moulds. All have come out bubble free! Can't wait till Monday when I can start casting them up.

Need to crack on with the bike bases next, getting the bases ready for casting up. I know there's much more variety than needed with 5 different dread sized bases. But how much variety should I do with the others sizes?
Will 5 be enough for the bikes? They'll look like 10 different ones as they can be used in 2 directions.
Then there's the TDA sized bases I've done 5 extra added to the 6 (I think that's how many I've already done) takes them up to 11 which should be enough.
So that just leaves the standard sized bases, which probably need the most variety. Where do I aim for with them ... Does 15 or 20 sound ok? Or do I already have enough variety?

Time to crack out the fresh batch of resin and get some new bases cast up. I always get a bit excited when I'm using a mould for the first time. I've also started the final clean up on the bike bases so the mould for them should be happening fairly soon as well as the new TDA sized ones. Lol ... I really need to get round to stripping the bikes so I can get them painted up and use the bases. Hopefully I'll have some photos later on with a mound of bases.

Went to pour using the new resin and found it's not the one I ordered. It's got twice the cure time so it's going to take twice the time to cast anything up. However it's a lot lower viscosity so it's minimal if any bubbles and picking up an even better level of detail. Here's the 1st casting

Paint has stuck on a treat without needing to wash the resin (I'm not using any oil or wax based release agents as I hate having to scrub resin). Just using pound shop matt black car spray. Currently waiting for some washes to dry. Should have finished painting them this evening!

Well here's what the first 2 of the 60mm bases look like with paint on them: And is that a big mound of white chocolate pennies I see over there? Nope it's a few casting runs of the new bases: Think I can safely stick that mould into storage for a while as I've got enough to be going on with.
