Simple one came up in the local GW store today which I could do with some clarification on;
Gunslinger (p. 52) states that a model can fire both pistols once each per shooting phase.
Rule above that says pistols are effectively Assault 1 weapons for close combat.
So, a model with two plasma pistols. Obviously he gets +1 for two H-t-H weapons but hitting at what strength? His own or that of the plasma?
And in either case, does he still test for Gets Hot! as per shooting? On the assumption that clubbing someone in the face with essentially a plasma bomb won't do the pistol much good.

It's models strength mate. He's effectively pistol whipping the guy.
No gets hot rolls, but I do see your point

I don't have a rulebook to hand right now, but it should say at the beginning of the close combat weapons rules section that pistols count as a normal close combat weapon. So yeah, as said you'd effectively fight with two close combat weapons and the only bonus you gain is the additional attack.

Stretch is right, although it was an exciting time when the rumours were talking about being about to use the weapons stats in combat before 6th came out.
