And with the release of Imperial Knights, just one more reason why I hardly play this over-powered game anymore. Unless you too have the big units, you struggle to do anything apart from die; sometimes it's not even worth laying out your army when you see something like them on the other side of the table because it becomes pointless.

I wouldn't go so far, but I have the incredible luck of being blessed with friends who are of the same mind as I and find power gaming distasteful. I do agree 40k is in a bit of a dodgy situation at the moment, but any singular unit, by itself*, can be handled by an average army. For the cost of a Land Raider and a half, I think Imperial knights entirely lacking AV14 are not a big deal. Well, one should not be a big deal. It's big, it's powerful, and being a superheavy walker it's fast as well, but anything that can take down a Land Raider and a half, of two Leman Russes, hardly something that is overpowered, should also be able to deal with a knight about as easily. I'd be more concerned with the rumor that knights can form an army of their own. That's going to be problematic if you don't need to bother with 80% of your army because they only have small arms and can't hurt medium to heavy vehicles. We've had this before with Armored Company. It's not been fun back then, I doubt it'll be any more fun now. It's tough finding a middle way between giving players the freedom to create the army they want and reining them in to prevent power lists. If you are of the mind that players are sensible and can negotiate what experience they want before a game, as GW seems to be, it's understandable that we have seen the move away from restrictions starting at the end of 4th ed. I, too, enjoy the greater freedom there is these days. It's just sad for people who can't find good opponent's, and who will either have to miss out or have a less enjoyable game. *Edit: Except Eldar titans. They're pure filth.
