I have a situation that cropped up today in a game.
I have a unit of Grey Hunters in a drop pod with a Rune Priest. The drop pod came down, the unit disembarked. The Rune Priest then used Jaws of the World Wolf - one shotting a Riptide!
However, we then hit a bit of a vague area.
Jaws of the World Wolf is a psychic shooting attack, but doesn't designate a target - basically, the priest chooses a direction and anything that falls under the 24" is affected.
So, how does this affect the unit of Grey Hunters? Can they shoot? Can they only shoot in the same direction as the psychic shooting?
Technically, the rune priest targets the ground
We diced it, and I didn't roll high enough to be able to fire off some shots at some nearby cultists, but I'd be interested in peoples opinion, as I'm using this tactic in a forthcoming tournament and would appreciate hearing how other people play this?

The first unit it 'passes through' is considered the target unit according to me. And so your Hunters can only shoot this unit. In your example this is the Riptide.
This idea is supported by following two FAQs (one from the SW FAQ and one from the BRB FAQ):

Ah...that's how I suspected it'd work as it's a beam in everything but name...
Thankee kindly!
