After an enjoyable weekend I've had a bit of time to re-evaluate the hobby. Before the weekend away I was slowly getting a bit jaded with the hobby in general without focus. I was almost ready to pack things up for a break. This is definitely something I really want to avoid and thanks to everyone who made it such a great weekend the hobby fire has been rekindled.
I can see that I need to take a serious break from The Route for a little while once a few more troop choices have been added. Though which direction to go? Currently there's the following options ...
40k: - Eldar - Imperial Guard - Blood Angels - Chaos Space Marines (brothers army needs painting) - Dark Angels (brothers army needs painting) - Space Marines (Crusade Army?)
30k: - Iron Hands - Admec
WHFB: - Bretonnians - Vampire Counts - Empire - Dwarf - Goblins - High Elves
Other Games: - Waagh Jim Lad! Ship - Necromunda Gangs (cross over to IG conscripts in gang colours?) - Epic Eldar - Blood Bowl Teams - Battle Fleet Gothic Eldar
Other: - Resin Bases - Scenery
Crumbs ... Just getting it down in writing is quite cathartic. I'm going to be loosing the bulk of the hobby space so I can't continue to "hobby" with a room in a complete mess with random bits all over the place. That said I do need to vary up what I'm working on. Yes, its great to blast through loads of the same army but I honestly have got fed up of the SW's thanks to having only done SW stuff for most of the year.
So "The Plan" is to have a few side threads that I blast different ideas in and may not touch for a few months at a time and keep the general day to day updates on this general blog. So if a thread pops up without pics or much forward momentum it'll be me getting my thoughts in order.

You forgot your Waagh! Jim Lad! ship! Still got to do one you know, and they are real fun! Not as if you didn't have sufficient inspiration over the weekend! LOL HG

You need to take a break from power armour. My hobby mojo was ebbing also it always does until we have a weekend and then it's Lets go! Again.you need to mix it up a little do something quite a bit different, I would suggest a different scale or system altogether. I see you have loads of GW but nothing else, try another system there are loads out there, and I think you won't be disappointed. Go skirmish and your outlay is minimal if it doesn't mesh with you. Personally I'm trying to avoid the batman game (the minis are amazing) but I'm not having much success I think a box is due soon (the rules are free and downloadable) infinity is similar. so there ya have it my 2p

I know what you mean Zog. Hobby spending is now at zero for quite a few months so I think that WHFB or something else might happen.

Well I've got a Dreadball team to paint, then Warmachine, then Malifaux. A few bits and pieces of other armies, so I'm the same. The only thing I likely to spend on will be Deadzone. Doesn't stop me eyeing up other stuff though, mostly Mantic but also Dropzone Commander.

The youngest is off nursery with a bad chest so he's being a bit of a limpet this morning. He's wanting me to show him some of my models so maybe he'll help me choose something?
What's the odds on him selecting some form of Space Marine?

Odds on young'uns selecting space marines are fairly High I reckon! I think a few of us (myself most definitely included) were losing our hobby mojo and, like others, mine has been fully restored after such a fantastic weekend! It has given me the kickstart I needed to get my Eldar started (craftworld Mymeara along with Stretch!) and I plan on adding to my Orks (lots more bikes and crazy stuff!) along with building a full scale and mini ship for the waaargh Jim lad! game... As for your own hobby Steve, go with your gut instinct, pick some models that take your fancy and just get cracking! FK

Lol ... He wants to help me with some "doggies" aka Wolves for the SW's. It's not PA and I actually enjoyed doing different coloured ones previously.
I might try copying the colouring of my Aunty's Mal's (Alaskan Malamutes) as she has a few and breeds them rather than randomly painting them up. I'm also thinking of trying to cast a few up as a test of my casting skills and also to replenish the numbers of wolves in my Vampire Counts army as all of the ones in the SW army were "Acquired" from that source.

Hmmm ... Plenty of waffle but very little action on the hobby front since the amazing weekend in Wolverhampton. This is soon to change as the 1st bits for the Iron Hands will be with me a week on Saturday. A mate will be in Nottingham this weekend and he's going to be picking up a few IH bits from GWS HQ in return for a few OOP models he needed. Rather nice surprise really as funding for new stuff is probably on hold now until 2015. I've been clearing up the hobbyroom in preparation for it being converted back into a bedroom. There will still be a little space for storage of hobby stuff but it's less than 10% of the current space, so I'll have to finally organise the clutter which is currently everywhere. I'll try and fit a little bit of hobbying in before the end of the year. However the aim is to be organised and prepared ready to hit the ground running for 2104 painting wise. The aim will be 600 items finished in 2014 which is 50 models a month. Working on the Goblins and Vampire Counts should make this an easy target.
