I am hoping to go out tomorrow and get a copy of Zombiecide.
I say hoping as the game is like the mythical rocking horse poop. No wargames stores seem to have it for anything more than a split second. This ofcourse adds to the intrigue.
But i hear rumours of a copy on a shelf in a store...if the rumour is true...it shall be mine....failing that i guess amazon will have to take my money.
But that aside. Do any of you have a copy? have you played it? Whats your thoughts.
All the reviews i have read are very positive. It generally gets described as a fun, fast paced game with chaos and carnage in equal measure. The models look good, the game boards servicable though i can see world works games getting some business and a 3d version being made.
I should mention me and carol are massive fans of zombie flicks and games. Zombieland, land of the dead, world war z, 28 days later, left for dead 1+2..all are good fun inspiration.
So please, if you have this game and it is described as a board game more than a 'wargame', share your thoughts.

We have a copy at our club, it's used mainly as a pick-up standby for those without arranged games etc. Although on occasion we do arrange a session. It's great fun and fairly easy to learn.

I just watched the recording of the live interactive game of Zombicide done by 'watch it played'. Got to say what a fantastic idea and all it's left us doing is screaming 'want to play!!!'. Watch it played - zombicide can be found www.youtube.com/watch?v=voQC7HVZ5uw

I'm fairly certain that Saul at our club has this and has brought it a few times, looks really good. I'll ask him where he got his copy from.

if you can get a copy it's well worth the pounds mate. Now gonna have to wait for the 2 kickstarter expansions.
Only 2 bug bears in the game. When you run out of a certain zombie figure, any spawnings of that type cause all zombies of that type to automatically get an extra activation. (this has been the cause of ever single game loss thus far)
When shooting into a zone with both zombies and survivors, the survivor is always the model hit and killed first unless you have the sniper ability.
I know some people house rule the spawning one as when it kicks in there is normally atlwaat 50+ zombies on the board!!

Well we got really lucky today. We visited the same store where we got the season 1 zombiecide boxed set from...and look what we found!!! Would have been rude not to buy it lol. Especially when some kickstarter people still haven't got there copies. All we need now is toxic city mall and we are upto date.

When i get a chance to play it i will lol. First things first. More walkers and runners= no more extra activations on zombies when they get to 40 walkers!

I might just more or less hijack this thread if you don't stop me. I got entangled in Zombicide approximately one and a half years ago, and I LOVE this game! I've got the three basic sets, the Toxic City Mall, the Angry Neighbours, and numerous smaller packs. Manus even gave me a set of heroes for my birthday. I think the game mechanics are suitably simple, but have been given fine tweaks through the later additions. The game is reasonably fast paced and is great fun - and I love the collaborative nature of the game (being the bad loser that I am, it's great to share defeat when it happens. And it does). My numerous boxes have left me with hundreds of minis, all of quite fine quality, and this Easter I made the decision to actually paint them. All of them. I knew it would be impossible to do in my usual plodding way, so I decided to approach the project with the intention to actually finish it and let my usual standard fly out the window. Enter the Army Painter dip. Love it! Here you can see the same cast of zombie before dip and after dip + purity seal (to eliminate the gloss surface of the turpentine based dip): (the quality of the picture isn't too good, but my usual camera had run out of juice, so I had to use my iPhone 4s) No shades, no highlights, nothing fancy - just basecoat, one layer of paint and dip + spray. Done! I'm doing them in batches or individually as my fancy takes me, and I've let my kids and their friends join in the fun. And to some extent it has even been a relief to just let go and have fun with it (I'll show you some of the bizarre ones in a later post.) Here's a small preview: Only the survivors (the heroes that you control in the game) deserve something better, so they're done with manually applied shadows and highlights. I've challenged myself a little by deciding that the heroes should end as close as possible to the pictures on the corresponding sheet with stats etc.

Great stuff mate - look sreally good, looking forward to the next game. I think you might have missed a pic though - the before one! I know dip is good, but changing colors and the location of blood specks on thoose two zombies in the top pic I don't think it can

Nice job. As a big fan of zombies and assorted creatures I find an effective paint job for the hordes is so much superior to a neat paint job because there's just so many of them, and at the end of the day, it's the characters and big creatures that draw attention, not individual horde models. It's a good excuse to try new and different things with painting, too. If you mess up, you can do a bit of clean up and put the model next to its zombie buddies without looking out of place. Plus the ultimate zombie bonus: If you messed up bad, cover it up with gore and rot and pretend it was done on purpose. I think you might have missed a pic though - the before one! I know dip is good, but changing colors and the location of blood specks on thoose two zombies in the top pic I don't think it can Humbug! Paint that paints models for your is the thing everyone's waiting for! And this. Is. It.
