So some of you guys might remember the thread on the old forum about making dice towers started when Quase did his. Well I had a brainwave the other day that revived the idea.
Now stay me, it's pretty drastic concept:
A dice tower... that's an Aztec pyramid... but Lizardmen style!
The idea is simple, make the standard box system for it. Wider at the base for the pyramid part. But I was wondering whether you guys have any input on how to make the pyramid bits themselves? I've not got any ideas for those...

If you've got 2" thick foam, then you could mark concentric squares on it. Then, using a square block and a long blade, cut them out. You could then push the squares through each other and glue them to each other to give you a hollow stepped pyramid. I reckon that this should be much easier than trying to construct boxes that are accurate and tough enough to use and you can texture or pattern it without worrying about cardstock warping.
The chute could then be put inside along with any sticks or whatever you need to make the dice bounce around and as it would be entirely separate, you can make it work on your bench before messing around with complicated construction that may go wrong. Once your happy that it works, detail the outside as you want.
What are the dice going to be caught in after the chute or are they going to go flying across the table like the rocks in The Temple of Doom?

Good idea there.
As for the ejection I hadn't decided. Most likely into a spawning pool or something, just enough to corral them really.

How big and complex do you want it to be? You could have the 'drop chute' exit half way down the pyramid and onto a slope down into the spawning pool.

OOooooooh! I like that! It can be made quite big without much hassle I think. Might need the larger models for scale though.

Have the dice pop out of a door half way up the pyramid and tumble down stairs.
