Right. I haven't played a game, painted a model or done any hobby related `stuff` in months, I miss all of those activities and it's time to rectify! So, onward with a new army (gonna be Eldar of course) In my possession without a single penny changing hands (mainly because I don't have any pennies!) I have the following: New craftworld codex Farseer on jetbike 3 jetbikes 5 howling banshees (need paint stripping) 5 fire dragons revenant titan (with another on the way!) 3 hornets I gained the above as payment for commision work and, while it is a seemingly random selection of models it is what I have to go and with the unbound system I'm not too stressed about what I have, I will just paint this lot up for now and see where it goes. Ok, vallejo premium air metallic blue in the airbrush, 1 hornet on my painting desk as a sample, cup of tea made, let's go! FK

Ok, finally got some WIP pics. Any thoughts on this? Going to have small areas blended with a contrasting hex, kind of holofield effect, any ideas on colours? I was thinking a red or orange to contrast the blue... FK

I was thinking a red or orange to contrast the blue... If you've got any type of 'Photoshop' image manipulation software I'd have to suggest having a play with that before loading the gun up - blue to orange might work well but I'd definitely want to see it first!

Oh I'm not going for a blue to orange fade/ blend, hard to describe what I'm hoping to achieve but kind of small patches of a contrasting colour airbrushed through a mesh to give small grid like pattern, like a holofield dancing across the wraithbone in places. I'm keeping the majority of the colour blue along with metallic black and bone coloured weapons. Troop armour will be non metallic pale blue.
Oh and I've got photoshop but never really used it...

Something like this: But with blue and orange? That would work!

Yep Paul that's kind of the effect I'm going for, looking at a metallic violet to contrast with the blue though, will be next week before I get any painting time though, updates then!

Orange would have been adventurous Liking how your metallic blue has got an interesting texture - any trick or is it just how the paint comes out?

It's just how the metallic airbrush paint acts, you are meant to use it straight from the bottle but it's just too thick for my airbrush and needed thinning down with multiple thinner coats applied- it's my lack of experience causing it, not a fault with the paint.
Oh and it's early days yet, the holofield effect isn't finished and I was thinking of having 1 or 2 other colours besides those already on, orange will almost certainly make an appearance swirling around amongst the wraithbone...

That looking pretty coolittle already. What "mesh" are you using for the effect ?

The mesh cost £1.99 from Halfords and is a lightweight car bodywork repair material, nice and thin so you can cut it to size with scissors and bend it around any contours needed.

- it's my lack of experience causing it, not a fault with the paint. That's brilliant - I've got loads of lack of experience The orange (red and yellow) into purple (red and blue) has gone quite smoothly, a full model shot would be nice to see
