Does look fun, I approve of the soundtrack and there's a nice line in irony.
But getting it would mean spending money.....

I'm not usually one for listening to reviews much on games, films etc preferring to make my own mind up but every single review I have read or watched for Destiny says the same thing "Beautiful graphics etc but no story and very shallow- you'll be bored of it in an hour" or along these lines, it's fairly off putting to say the least! Well I say every single review, I mean every one apart from your glowing review of it of course FK

The fact is that the story comes through with the Grimoire. The more you do in game (story missions, pvp, collecting dead ghosts, killing lots of enemies) earns Grimoire entries. These can then be read on Bungie's Destiny site when you log in. The reviewers clearly haven't looked into those. So the more I do the more I'm finding out about the world and the stakes, it gets better and better.
Also it's good to play on your own, but you get a couple of friends in a fire team to take on a Strike mission it's awesome! You help each other out and it becomes a real sense of comradeship when you take down the bosses together.
Finally, So many of my friends on the PSN are currently playing it, I've never had so many people playing the same game before!
However, all that being said. Now that I've finished the story missions and got to the soft level cap of 20 it's all about the end game. Which, like most mmorpgs (World of Warcraft especially), does require a certain about of rinse and repeat grinding. But given a full fireteam of similar levels it's all about the challenge of taking on high level missions together and winning!

Ah that sounds cool then. Reason I'm asking is that I'm getting a PS4 this week, a friend of a friend is giving me a brand new one he recently had bought for him as a birthday gift, he is giving it to me as payment for a load of commission work I'm doing for him (quite a few thousands points worth of Necrons and Chaos to be airbrushed ) So, finally I get my PS4, he is giving me the pack with the last of us, rayman legends and just dance (which will be getting traded in towards destiny- no man in his early 40s should be dancing unless it's at a friend's wedding ) So you've persuaded me to get Destiny anyway, I will pick that up in addition to getting the PS4 but that will have to wait till payday, then I will be online with you (Using my old PSN of I_AM_PABLO) look forward to seeing you online FK

What's a story got to do with shooting things and blowing stuff up, anyway?

What I'll also say is that you need to pay for PSN Plus to play online for any game on the PS4. It is worth it though as each month you get to download a free game.

How much is PSN plus per month? And is on line better than it was with PS3?
Can't wait, taking delivery of my PS4 on Friday (along with the mountains of models I need to paint in return for it lol)

Don't know the per month price. You can do it yearly, quarterly or monthly I think. Obviously the longer you get it for the better price is and I think the yearly one (what I got) was £40. With that you get it for both PS4 and PS3, unlocking extra abilities like cloud backup for save games and auto updates. You also get access to the "Instant Game Collection". Each month they add a game that you can download as part of the package (and remove an older one). When I got mine I got the new Devil May Cry, new Tomb Raider, XCom and a few "indie" PS4 games. So I earned back my payment really quickly!

Also worth noting is that any game you download "free" as part of PSN Plus can be played unlimitedly as long as you're subscribed, once you unsubscribe you can't play them anymore. However, if you buy a game with a discount because of PSN Plus or full price, then that's yours to play post subscription.

All that being said, I personally think it's worth it if you're going to play online and the games they give you is just a bonus.
