You can also set up a Bastion directly at the center line of the board and infiltrate a unit in it, regardless of proximity to any enemy unit. Interesting for some armies, but unfortunately not to regular Marines who have no infiltrating unit with one or two particularly powerful weapons to shoot out of fire points. Not a fan of scouts with snipers? Give them camo cloaks and they have a nice 2+ cover save from the bastion. That is then a unit that can quite nicely harass enemy units and if you're lucky to be facing a low leadership army, pin them!

On the contrary. I like sniper Scouts. But they have the range that they don't need to start 12" away from the enemy, and none of their weapons is individually strong (you could argue the missile launcher is, but BS3 works against that), which works against the limited fire points a Bastion lets you shoot out of.
Also, I'd have to look up whether you can actually start on top of the building. You can definitely infiltrate inside, but I think not on top. Plus, they only get a 3+ there because battlements are FAQed to be 4+.

Podding in a pair of Ironclads does sound entertaining, I confess.....
